Review of Tulsa King S2 E1

The premiere episode of 'Tulsa King' Season 2, titled "Back in the Saddle", brings viewers back into Dwight Manfredi’s complicated world of crime, loyalty, and new ventures. After his arrest at the end of Season 1, Dwight, portrayed by Sylvester Stallone, is bailed out by his daughter Tina. However, the pressure on Dwight mounts as he faces new enemies and challenges.

In this episode, Dwight begins exploring a new opportunity: setting up a clean energy farm to power his marijuana operation. This potential business expansion sets him on a collision course with Cal Thresher, a local cannabis mogul, played by Neal McDonough, who views Dwight as a serious competitor. Thresher’s ruthless demeanor contrasts with Dwight's more old-school mobster tactics, foreshadowing an intense rivalry this season.

Meanwhile, Kansas City gangster Bill Bevilaqua, portrayed by Frank Grillo, also emerges as a new antagonist, adding further tension. Bevilaqua, whose criminal empire includes Tulsa, sees Dwight’s growing influence as a threat, setting up a power struggle that will likely dominate the season.

The episode is marked by powerful confrontations, including a heated exchange between Dwight and ATF agent Stacy Beale (Andrea Savage), as well as internal mafia conflicts, notably Chickie’s violent attempt to reassert control over his crime family.

Overall, this episode sets the tone for a dramatic and tension-filled season, with Stallone’s performance continuing to be a standout, blending humor and intensity as Dwight navigates the dangerous underworld of Tulsa.
